Took some of my students to a football game today… We were at the top of the bleachers and some of them were hanging over the railing, just looking down. Two security guards came up to us and said that some people had complained because they were afraid that the kids were going to throw something down. We asked the kids to stop looking over the railing and they gladly obliged. The security guards assured us that if they continued “misbehaving” that we would be asked to leave. One of the security guards watched over us for the rest of the game. His vigilance was so blatant that one of my students even made a comment about it. I really don’t think this would’ve happened if my students weren’t predominantly Dominican. Nevertheless, had a great time!

If I posted a short story that I wrote for a zine that never came out, would anyone actually read it?
Some of the teachers at my school (myself included) are going to be wearing these tomorrow for Unity Day! I’m sure most of us have been bullied at some point or another, so wear orange to show solidarity and spread awareness!
